The Vegas Lie

“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!”
Really!? I remember the first time I heard this in a commercial on television. I was sincerely appalled and at once convicted of the fact that Las Vegas would not be on my list of “most wanted places to visit.” (No offense meant to the good people there.)
It doesn’t take much to read between the lines in this slogan, and I want nothing to do with what is being promoted or the kind of people this mindset will attract.
This slogan flies in the face of the truth I have come to know as I have been refined by age.™ The truth simply stated is, “No matter where I go, there I am.” What I do defines me – is me. It’s all part of the same package. I am the one thing I can’t leave behind.
So, I tell you the truth, “What happens in Vegas won’t stay in Vegas.” It will become part of the baggage of life.
Only the grace of God has the power to overcome and relieve us of the weight of this baggage.
